Trophy class Stone Sheep hunting
starts with Golden Bear Outfitting
Stone sheep is considered to be a larger, thicker version of the Dall's sheep featuring darker coloured horns and a wider skull. They vary in colour and pattern from white to a mixture of brown and grey and, at times, even black.
Our area has a yearly quota of 3. Most of the sheep are quite dark in color. The average sheep ranges from 35-39 inches with 40”+ rams having been taken in the past. Some of the sheep country can be accessed with horses, but you will need to do some hiking and backpacking.

This was one of the best adventure hunts I have been on in the last 30 years. It encompassed everything a hunter can and should experience on a true wilderness hunt AND the end result is that hard work, time and effort can offer amazing results. My son Victor and I also want to add that we both appreciate the effort Ross put in to get us our trophies. You have a good young man there who has his hunters best interest and success in mind. Thank you again.

Wow! I am in Houston with Matt this week and we were reviewing his hunt. I wanted to write and reinforce that he had a spectacular trip and great things to say about you and Ross, but he was also really grateful for the birthday surprise. 🙂 As am I!
Thank you so much for this 'trip of a lifetime' and for taking good care of my guy. I'm so grateful that you could make this dream come true for him and squeeze in the birthday surprise. I hear you liked the peanut butter whisky too. 🙂
Please pass my thanks on to Ross and the person who made the cake!

My goal after retirement was to do my first ever spot and stalk hunt outside of Ohio. That hunt would be a Stone Sheep hunt in British Columbia. I also wanted a backpack hunt to test myself in nature’s beautiful mountains. After emailing 12 outfitters for potential openings, 11 responded and I spoke to most of the owners. It didn’t take much deliberation to go with Golden Bear Outfitters. At that time, Greg Williams was still the owner, and my guide was his son Blake. I could not have scripted a more enjoyable and fulfilling experience than what Greg and Blake delivered.
Honesty , integrity, generosity, and hard working describe Greg , Blake and their staff. That first hunt forged a friendship with Blake that will last my lifetime. We worked hard and harvested a beautiful ram and days later a bonus mountain goat. The following year I went back and shot a mountain caribou and a world class moose. God willing, I plan to go back multiple times. Golden Bear is a special place. It will move you on many different levels. If you’re blessed and able, you owe it to yourself to go

Last year I called Dennis Campbell about a good recommendation for an elk hunt. Dennis is a good friend, editor of Grand Slam and obviously has plenty of contacts. Without reservation, he highly recommended Greg Williams Outfitters. I chose a 10-day elk/caribou hunt in mid-September, 2006. The accommodations, food, fun and fellowship were all first class. I bagged a beautiful 6x6 elk, and a bull caribou with a magnificent late-September. cape and hide. It doesn't get any better than what I experienced on my hunt with Greg.

I don't know how my hunt in British Columbia with Greg Williams could possibly have been any better. Greg, his wife Fay and son Blake are great people and are expert at what they do which is provide a hunt of a lifetime at a very reasonable price. Everything was top notch from the guides to the cook and the scenery in beyond comparison to anywhere I have ever been. Lots of game and great trophy quality!

I have hunted enough to know when I'm with a top notch outfitter. There were plenty of areas and plenty of sheep. The guides, horses and all their equipment were of the highest quality, they were excellent and as hard working as any sheep hunter can find in the business.

Hunting is much more than stalking that trophy animal, it is about relationships, memories, fun and excitement. From our first contact, which came as a reference from my father-in-law, until this day, you have provided us with much more than trophy animals. It is readily apparent that the 30 plus years you and your family have dedicated to the profession of guiding and outfitting has been driven by your love of the outdoors and the sport of hunting. The people you have selected as guides, cooks and camp staff is all first class and, as they say, that starts at the top.
