What’s the Weather Like on a Mountain Hunt?

What kind of weather can you expect on a mountain hunt for mountain goat, Stone sheep, caribou or moose? Blake Williams of Golden Bear Outfitting gives you a quick summary in this video. Watch the video or you can read the transcript below.

In our business the weather is always the biggest variable.

Guys often ask me, you know, what to expect with the weather and that’s always a hard question to answer, right? You can expect to spend a couple days at least in your rain gear over the course of a 10-day hunt.

The weather really depends on what time of year that you’re hunting. We start hunting August 1st and then run through ’til mid-October, and so the weather varies there quite a bit through that time period.

Early season, typically the weather’s warmer and maybe a little bit drier, and then as you roll into later September the weather’s going to start turning on us a little bit going from rain and then once we get into October, even throughout September you can be expecting some snow periods. Typically the snow is going to come and go.

The weather is always a factor, and the more that you’re prepared for it, then the better off we are.
